John Mellencamp has said, “Discovering Max Beckmann was like discovering Woody Guthrie or Bob Dylan,” and that just as folk music is the foundation of his musical voice, German Expressionism is the foundation for his visual voice.

In this special gallery talk and tour, Pam Coffman, Curator of Education will present an introduction to German Expressionism and Max Beckmann and explore their connection to artworks on exhibit in John Mellencamp: Paintings & Assemblages.
