Artist Talk with Philomena Marano
October 17, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
From American Collage: 1930 - Present
Featured in our current exhibition of American Collage: 1930 – Present, artist Philomena Marano discusses her decades-long career depicting fantastical pop culture dreamscapes inspired by the Coney Island experience. Hear more about her approach to print, cut paper collage, and large-scale papier collé installations at this limited-admission gallery talk with the artist herself.
About the Artist
Philomena Marano was raised in Brooklyn, NY – a stone’s throw from America’s most famous amusement park, Coney Island.
She attended the High School of Art & Design in Manhattan, earned a BFA at Pratt Institute and has been practicing cut paper collage for decades- a medium she learned while working as an assistant to preeminent artist, Robert Indiana.
Philomena’s work has been exhibited by ACA Gallery, Prince Street Gallery, and Tabla Rasa Gallery in New York, among others, and was recently featured in a solo exhibition at Art Center Sarasota.
She is represented in numerous private, corporate, and museum collections including the Brooklyn Museum.
