Teen Studio Artists 2026
For Ages 12+
The Studio Artist Class is a class meant to grow students’ abilities technically and conceptually through a focused 6-week session of classes. Students will study elements and principles of art, in-depth techniques, and study a variety of artists to inspire their work. Each 6-week session has its own theme and focus.
$115 for Museum members, $125 for not-yet members.
10 student maximum per session.
Wednesday Afternoon Sessions 4:45-6:00
Session 1: Vivid Visions: Exploring Color with Paint
Meets January 21st-Februrary 25th
In this art class, teens will explore the power of color mixing, learning how tints, tones, and shades can transform the way we see and express ideas. Through guided practice, they’ll experiment with layering and blending colors to create depth, mood, and symbolism in their work. Their acrylic paintings will showcase personal experiences and their newfound techniques. Some of the highlighted artists of inspiration include Alex Nunez, Helen Frankenthaler, Yayoi Kusama, Greg Ito, and Derrick Adams.
Session 2: A Mixed Media Sea Life Voyage
Meets March 4th – April 15th (no class March 18th)
In this hands-on class, teens will dive into the world of 3D art through watercolor paint, acrylic paint, graphite, plaster, Mod Podge, collage and more! In their projects, students will learn how to build forms, layer textures, and experiment with sculptural surfaces to bring their imaginative seascapes to life! Some of the highlighted artists of inspiration include Damien Goidich, Joel Daniel Phillip, Taylor Robenalt, Greg Ito, Derrick Adams, and Ashante Kindle.
Session 3: Shape Shifters: 3D Art for Teens
Meets April 22nd – May 27th
In this hands-on class, teens will dive into the world of 3D art through the use of plaster, Mod Podge, and mixed media techniques. In their final project, students will learn how to build forms, layer textures, and experiment with sculptural surfaces to bring their imaginative figures to life! Some of the highlighted artists of inspiration include Taylor Robenalt and Maria Bartuszova.
Cancellations and Refunds:
- No fees will be returned or credits issued for failure to attend.
- There will be no make-up classes due to a student’s illness, unanticipated travel or other reasons not the responsibility of the Museum of Art – DeLand.
- If a class is canceled, students will be notified at least two (2) days prior to the date of class, and tuition will be refunded. The Museum reserves the right to substitute teachers as needed.
- A refund will be issued minus a $25 processing fee for cancellation up to 7 days prior to beginning of the session. No refund will be issued after the 7-day deadline.
Check in/Check Out:
- Students cannot be dropped off more than 10 minutes before the start of class and students are to be picked up promptly after the end of class. Please let the museum staff know if you are running late. A fee of $1 per minute will be assessed for late pick up or early drop off.
- Students can only be signed out by authorized adults with identification each day.
- If any changes need to be made to authorized adults for pick up list, changes must be submitted in writing to Marisa Ingram.
