Studio Artist Class Spring 2026
For Ages 6-12
The Studio Artist Class is a class meant to grow students’ abilities technically and conceptually through a focused 6-week session of classes. Students will study elements and principles of art, in-depth techniques, and study a variety of artists to inspire their work. Each 6-week session has its own theme and focus.
$115 for Museum members, $125 for not-yet members.
10 student maximum per session.

Session 1: Once Upon a Line: Colors of Connection
Meets January 21st-Februrary 25th
This art class invites children to explore how color and line can work together to create brand-new artwork full of energy and imagination. Young artists will discover how their art can guide the eye, create movement, and shape ideas. They will also dive into the exciting world of color—mixing, layering, and combining hues of acrylic paint to express emotions and tell stories. Some of the highlighted artists of inspiration include Helen Frankenthaler, Yayoi Kusama, Alex Nunez, and Greg Ito.
Session 2: Build-a-World: Mixed Media Adventures
Meets March 4th – April 15th (no class March 18th)
In this art class, children will explore how texture, composition, and mixed media can bring their imaginative worlds to life. By experimenting with materials such as paint, collage, fabric, and found objects, they will discover how different surfaces and layers create depth and feeling. In their final art project, they’ll learn how to arrange elements in a creative way that tells a story in an imaginative world filled with texture and design. Some of the highlighted artists of inspiration include Derrick Adams, Ashante Kindle, and Alex Nunez.
Session 3: Sculpt, Shape, and Shine
Meets April 22nd – May 27th
In this hands-on class, kids will dive into the world of 3D art through the use of air-dry clay, plaster, Mod Podge, and mixed media. In their final project young artists will design and build a figure of their choice—whether it’s a superhero, robot, fairy, or creature from their own imagination. Along the way, they’ll learn how to shape, layer, and add details to their sculptures while exploring the magic of storytelling through art. Some of the highlighted artists of inspiration include Taylor Robenalt and Maria Bartuszova.
Cancellations and Refunds:
- No fees will be returned or credits issued for failure to attend.
- There will be no make-up classes due to a student’s illness, unanticipated travel or other reasons not the responsibility of the Museum of Art – DeLand.
- If a class is canceled, students will be notified at least two (2) days prior to the date of class, and tuition will be refunded. The Museum reserves the right to substitute teachers as needed.
- A refund will be issued minus a $25 processing fee for cancellation up to 7 days prior to beginning of the session. No refund will be issued after the 7-day deadline.
Check in/Check Out:
- Students cannot be dropped off more than 10 minutes before the start of class and students are to be picked up promptly after the end of class. Please let the museum staff know if you are running late. A fee of $1 per minute will be assessed for late pick up or early drop off.
- Students can only be signed out by authorized adults with identification each day.
- If any changes need to be made to authorized adults for pick up list, changes must be submitted in writing to Marisa Ingram.
