Discover the traditions, history, and techniques of the ancient and beloved art of Japanese Sumi-e brush painting. Originally inspired by the paintings of Chinese aristocrats and Buddhist monks, this Asian art form uses traditional calligraphy brushes, special ink, and rice paper to paint flowers, animals, and insects. Learn key brush strokes to create your own images.
