Are you an art lover, history buff, people person, or just have some extra time that you’d like to spend helping the Museum of Art – DeLand? You sound like art kind of people.
Docent training is a great way to share these cultural interests and expand your knowledge in all areas of art. Join us for an informational session to learn more about this rewarding opportunity.
To qualify as a docent you should have:
- An abiding interest in the visual arts
- Good public speaking skills
- Ability to work well with children and adults
- Flexibility, dependability, time, and commitment
Docent candidates must also participate in a comprehensive training course and be available for a specific number of volunteer hours per annum. Our training program includes classes and workshops in: Theories of teaching and learning, museum education, art history, methods of interpretation, field study and touring techniques, information on current and permanent exhibitions, principles and elements of art and design and studio practices.
This informational session is free and open to the public.
