ECHO VOLUSIA COUNTY

The Volusia ECHO program, generated by a grassroots initiative, resulted from a citizen approved referendum passed November 7, 2000. Volusia ECHO provides grant funds to finance acquisition, restoration, construction or improvement of projects to be used for environmental, cultural, historical and outdoor recreational purposes. For 20 years, ECHO helped Volusia County construct important cultural and outdoor recreational projects, save endangered historic buildings and provide environmental education projects.  On November 3, 2020, 72% of Volusia County voters cast their ballot to continue the program for an additional 20 years.

E.O. Painter Printing Company

The origin of E. O. Painter Printing Company began with the newspaper Florida Agriculturalist. Organized in 1873 the Agriculturalist began publication in Jacksonville, Florida under the guidance of Charles Walton. In 1883 Johnston moved to Deland, Florida to begin his own newspaper the Orange Ridge Echo.In 1904 the business formally incorporated under the name E. O. Painter Printing Company and today is located in Deleon Springs, Florida. Since 1904 Sydney Johnston and his descendants have been both owners and managers of E. O. Painter Printing Company. Today the business is guided by Johnston’s grandson Sidney Dick Johnston and two of his great grandsons Jeffrey and Mark Johnston as well as Jeffrey’s wife Donna. The foundation of our longevity is based in using quality products, first class service, and competitive pricing. Our products range from digital commercial printing and fulfillment to book production.

In 1983, Booth received the prestigious Parachute Equipment Industry Association Achievement Award. The Federation Aeronautic International awarded him the 1984 Gold Medal for outstanding achievement in parachute safety design, the highest award available in his field. Consistent innovators and perfectionists, our engineers continued to make improvements to the production and design of our production 2005 United Parachute Technologies bought the assets of Relative Workshop. United Parachute Technologies continues the tradition of excellence and detail.

Volusia County Florida

With its art centers and museums, theaters, concerts, historical collections, libraries, and public art, Volusia County fosters active programs through the Cultural Council of Volusia County (CCVC). The CCVC was created by the Volusia County Council in 1989. It is recognized as a Local Arts Agency for Volusia County, pursuant to F.S. §265.283, by the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture. The Volusia County Council traditionally has appropriated more than $600,000 in operating grants for local cultural and heritage organizations. This funding has enabled the CCVC to provide support to more than 30 cultural and historical organizations that serve more than 1 million people. The West Volusia Beacon

The West Volusia Beacon newspaper was founded in 1992 by three DeLand-area residents who wanted to assure that the communities of DeLand, Lake Helen, Orange City, DeBary, Deltona, Pierson, DeLeon Springs and Seville would have a locally owned newspaper. The Beacon reports local news from these communities and the surrounding environs. Our mission is to unite community members with shared information, to empower them through knowledge, and to help local businesses succeed by offering affordable marketing solutions. We point out the positive, but don’t shy away from holding public officials accountable, and shining our Beacon light on community problems, to enable the community to work together to solve those problems.
