SUMMARY:Docent Training Program
DESCRIPTION:Are you an art lover\, history buff\, public speaker\, or people-person? If you answered yes\, then we invite you to apply for our upcoming Docent Training Program. When you train to become a docent\, you’ll enjoy a mini-art history course with our Associate Curator of Education\, Martha Underriner\, who has an MA in Art Education and an MFA in Studio Art. The training program will be 8-week consecutive class\, meeting Tuesdays from 10 – 11:30 a.m. starting on September 12 and running through October 31. \nDocents are a vital link between what’s displayed in the Museum and how visitors respond to what they see. Our docents are a diverse group of volunteers who share a passion for art and the community. They are active\, enthusiastic\, imaginative\, and knowledgeable. Historically\, a docent was a tour guide who talked while visitors listened. SUMMARY:Creative Expressions Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This hands-on art making workshop is designed for youth with developmental and learning disabilities as well as those on the autism spectrum. Each workshop will have multiple adaptations available to meet the needs of the students and will be designed to encourage self expression and creativity. \nEach child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop and the whole family is encouraged to participate. Siblings are also welcome to attend.
