Knowing About Modern Art
March 7 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Workshop with Michael Katz
Probably the most confusing and misunderstood of art movements, Modern Art has left many a mystified museum-goer with that blank, “What am I even looking at?” stare. Luckily, that mystified museum-goer doesn’t have to be you, thanks to this exciting introductory workshop by artist and professor Michael Katz.
Based on a course taught at Stetson University, this workshop will use the experiential method of teaching (think “Show me. Don’t tell me.”), in a three-hour crash course that leaves dogma at the door. Through guided activity, students will gain a deeper personal understanding of the nature and value of visual communication, and why it is even more relevant today.
Previous experience making or viewing art is not required. Any materials needed for the class will be provided.
